Aww, you remembered meeee?

That's what the red lentils said when I dug them out of the back of the fridge this evening. They were so cute about it. They brought back memories of Lent and hunger but also of excitement and discovery. I poached an egg in them for good measure. Everything was good, though I wish I had had more milk to wash down all the hot.

This morning I had more well-seasoned (soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper) eggs on buttery toast. A great pleasure. I can't believe I went months without eggs, not too long ago. They are a wonderful and versatile fallback. And now that I actually season them, they aren't super boring either.
