Journeying Through Food in Love

Some relief!

Wow, it's such a high to be full with really good food again. A good friend and regular reader (thank you!) treated me to Japanese udon today. Glassy noodles in a broth. And what a broth! Just swimming with globs of delicious fat. Besides providing me my first real red meat in weeks, it also had whole chunks of tendon. There was so much collogen floating around that I feel like I'm going to wake up as Rapunzel, and with foot-long glowingly healthy nails.

An unbelievably consoling and restorative feast.

Udon

And it was just so good. I'm getting better at what I make, sure, but I don't make anything like this. It was so hot and spicy my nose was running the whole time, and I was crying, but they were tears of chili-induced joy. Meat and broth, especially, are so good for one's state of mind. This has given me strength to make it to the end of Lent. Then I'll have to see about making myself able to replicate this level of nourishment at a sustainable price point.
